As a child, I loved music, but struggled with private instruction.
Sitting still and focusing for long lessons, feeling ashamed if I forgot to practice daily, and learning music that didn't interest me made it hard to progress. Teachers did not know how to best support me, and my learning hit a wall until I figured out how to learn on my own.
Now as a teacher, my goal is to create developmentally-appropriate, individualized lessons that help children learn music and build confidence in their abilities.
I use my background in curriculum design and inclusive education to develop individualized lessons plans that work best for each unique student. We use traditional resources like method books and practice logs when helpful, create alternative tools if needed, and always make room for movement and play.
